HLG Rules of the Games

  1. These games shall be open to all comers except where otherwise stated.
  2. Competitors in Open Events must be 16 years of age or over unless otherwise stated.
  3. Competitors in local events must be resident in the Parish of Row, Arrochar, Rosneath. Kilcreggan or Helensburgh. for at least six months preceding the day of the games.
  4. In all competitions, there must be more competitors than prizes; otherwise prize money maybe withheld at the discretion of the Association. All prize money will be awarded at the close of each event.
  5. The Games Co-ordinator reserves the rights to alter the order of events, but will endeavour to comply with appropriate times as per the programme.
  6. All track and field athletes must report to the registration desk within the arena prior to competing. Once registered, athletes must then display the official HLG identification number provided.
  7. Only competitors, pipe band members, solo pipers, officials and members of the press will be allowed inside the arena.
  8. Tug O' War:-Competitors' names must be nominated prior to competition.
    1. Open Competition - Teams of eight (as per SGA rules). If four or less teams have been entered, the competition will be a round robin. If five or more teams have entered, the competition will be a knock out. The draw will be made at the start of the competition and will not be redrawn at any other stage.
    2. Local Competition – Teams of five. If four or less teams have been entered, the competition will be a round robin. If five or more teams have entered, the competition will be a knock out. The draw will be made at the start of the competition and will not be redrawn at any other stage.

Local Tug o' War

£6.00 per team

Open Tug o' War

£12.00 per team

  1.  Competitors in Heavy events (programme No’s 1 to 6 inclusive) must wear kilt.

10. Points will be awarded as follows:-

    1. 5 points
    2. 4 points
    3. 3 points
    4. 2 points
    5. 1 point

11.  The decision of the Judges and ultimately the Games Co-ordinator will be final.
    12.  Competitors for Local events must be resident for a minimum of five years within the old county
boundary of Argyllshire.
