The 2009 Homecoming Helensburgh & Lomond Highland Games were indeed blessed, with Helensburgh having sunshine all day, when local areas such as Dumbarton & Clydebank were hit with torrential rain.
The Games started at 10am with the Junior Heavy Athletic Events and Highland Dancing. This, in only our second year organising the Games, was the first time we had introduced the junior Heavy Events to the Games and was a great success with 13 boys and girls taking part. This will now be an annual event for 11 and 12 year olds in Primary schools in Helensburgh & Lomond.

The 2009 Heavy Events overall champion was Aaron Neighborgh from Melbourne Australia, Aaron broke 3 Games records and equaled another (see results), Helensburgh’s own Neil Elliott was second overall and won the Caber event.
